Adventures with Evan

Posted by Unknown 0 comments
Unsurprisingly, I'm a typically besotted Granny. Evan's fascinated by the washing machine and tries to fill or empty it whenever he gets the chance. (Oh that he will still be like that when he's a teenager!)
My finger might get jammed
Another item he loves is Hudson's water bowl. Looks like Evan is with his Granny in enjoying plastic ducks!

By the way, the aftermath of the cake...

5 Things I love

Posted by Unknown 4 comments

Blog prompt #30

Today's blog prompt is ... 5 THINGS I LOVE... This can be craft products, websites, blogs, people...

In no particular order of priority:

1. Crafting with friends and volunteer crafting.  Ruth and I made baby cards with the outpatients at the Hospice today. Tatty Teddy was rubber-stamped, slightly coloured, matted and layered and a banner placed below.

2. Replacement printer - arrived from HP. Now able to print out my craftsUprint and made a card for Hudson's 3rd birthday on Saturday.

3. Cats.

Angel, my niece's cat
Pip, Ann's cat
4. Computers.  Excited about the Raspberry Pi initiative.  Smacks of the glory of the Electron days.

5. Singing.  So enjoyed my 4 years with the Praise Gathering choir and hoping it will start up again.
Glasgow Royal Concert Hall 2011 - I am in the fourth row from the back, extreme right
GRCH 2011 - Ruth is sixth row from the front, two in from the right
Enjoyed my one event with Origin when we worshipped in Glasgow.
GRCH 2010 - can you spot me and Ruth?

Inspiration

Blog prompt #22

Look around your home and create a card or a scrapbook page by being inspired by something around your home.

Only recently was I inspired by the design of a picture frame!

Look around my home.  I'm in the midst of purging the craftystudy; preparing a Challenge and a Project for the craft group on Thursday, there's two birthdays before the end of the month, how can I think further craftiness?

Lateral thinking required. I'll have to bend this a bit. On the wall I see a frame with a photo taken while Praise Gathering was in Belfast last October - it reminded me of the Christmas card I sent Ruth with a different photo surrounded by a raised frame. Can I get away with that, Emma?
We were sitting on a bronze sculpture Sheep on the Road by Deborah Brown - how appropriate is that...

Post-Belfast

In front of the Waterfront Hall, Belfast
Hi Everyone,
We have all now recovered from our Craftathon and are back to our fortnightly evenings crafting together. We are making Christmas projects, trying to keep to finishing on time -- and failing badly.
Alice's project
Since our last crafting group evening, Alice and I have been preparing for our voluntary Wednesday craft days plus rehearsing for a repeat of the Praise Gathering concert that we were part of in June. This time with great excitement we went to Belfast. We had a wonderful time with 170 from the two Scottish choirs joining with 230 Irish singers to make yet another 400-strong choir for the concert on Saturday October 8th at the Waterfront Belfast. We flew over on Friday and returned on Sunday evening. We spent a week recovering from all the fun of it!!!

On  Saturday the 29th October (after a Charity dinner on the Friday night) we are going to the ICHF craft exhibition to have a look at all the stalls and perhaps purchase...whether we need it or not!! LOL At the moment, Barbara Gray’s brayering techniques, distressing inks, and Copic/Promarker/Spectrum Noir alcohol pens are the craft items we are experimenting with at present.

Hopefully we will be able to show some of our purchases after we have been to the show, but until then…keep crafting

PG Rehearsal Edinburgh

Posted by Unknown 3 comments
I had an embedded video here of the Edinburgh rehearsal of "Total Praise", but the video has been removed by the user.  You'll just have to wait for the CD coming out late 2011, early 2012! You can get a taster by going to the YouTube Playlist of PG videos.

So, I've lost these pin backs for making badges...they must be somewhere in the CraftyStudy but after 'tidying' they are locationally-challenged.

A week's holiday on the Undiscovered Isle - Bute - with hubby was well enjoyed by us both.

However, now back home, I've not been idle while ReporterWhippet has been sunning herself on holiday.

Not much crafting done but a lot of videos sorted and uploaded to
YouTubevideo #8 shows Val making an Exploding Box from scratch without using an expensive kit;
video #15 in response to ninajeanette2's question about folding a circular teabag-paper as in Mary's teabag-folding video #4;
trying to make a Jacob's Ladder for DebbieAC68 - unfortunately resulted only in
Outtake #3 ...

The CraftyChums' enthusiasm for BSL (similar to ASL) is now expressed in two videos showing Ruth signing:
Ian White gave us permission to use his music for this
video;
and the signs are shown slowly in this
video;

Whilst writing all this over a period of a week, the pinbacks are now found! Too late - we've bought more at
Craftology!!

Bye for now

"You don't have to worry, and don't you be afraid, joy comes in the morning, troubles they don't last always, ... if your heart is broken, just lift your hands and say, oh, I know that I can make it, I know that I can stand, no matter what may come my way, my life is in your hands..."

We are fine, thanks, Mary. Ruth and Val and I are involved in Praise Gathering concerts on 13, 14, 15 June (see song above), so crafts is taking a back seat until July.

Keep in touch with us and we can write crafty thoughts.
Love
CraftyAlice
