A Conglomeration of Clydes

You might have noticed that I've been posting a lot of Clydes? Prepare to be further bombarded, from a variety of sources. There's even a knitted Clyde, pattern by Juanita McLellan, which also appeared in the Scottish newspaper the Daily Record and on her blog as World Famous...in Glasgow.

Bellahouston Park hosted Flourish - title taken from the Glasgow motto, Let Glasgow Flourish by the preaching of the Word and the praising of his Name.

Yarn Bombing

"Yarn Bombing -- or as it’s called in Europe, Knit Graffiti – has been taking hold all over the world. From fibre artists who craft covers for a water tower or bus to small community groups who cover lampposts and parking meters, embellishing the world with yarn is a celebration of beauty and a sign of hope and humour. This kind of work is joyous, whimsical, and opens up what knitting and crocheting can be. Yarn is the new paint of our time. Community groups, local knitting groups and individuals have been collectively knitting and crocheting bringing the traditional craft to life."

I visited the Village Arts Centre in East Kilbride after my daughter-in-law told me it had been Yarn-Bombed for the next day's fun. I got a few photos and thought it was a great idea -- showing off knitting and crochet in an unusual way.

Christmas is early this year

Well I did do some more crochet. I finished the Christmas stocking for Evan, and I made the Granny Squares a little larger than in the past. The bells on the hanging loop amused him but I wasn't convinced that he wouldn't chew them off, so the sock has been removed till December!

Crochet

I've taken up crochet again, after refreshing my memory of how to do the basic stitches for Granny Squares, planning on making a stocking for Evan's Christmas. It's fun to get back into an old hobby first picked up when I was a teenager! It might take me till December to complete it. However, I haven't given up on cardmaking and have made his 1st birthday card for 5 April, using an idea that craftywhippet came up with. Watch this space...

Meanwhile I've crocheted a wee flower, and used a nice pearl button in the centre, for my pull-on hat against the snowy Arctic winds. I got the pattern from a blog called Attic24, using just one random colour green wool.
