Your storage solutions for both outside and inside

Posted by Unknown 1 comments

Blog prompt #12

Are you a gardener? Tell me more about life with green fingers. Are you mega organised in the house?

Yesterday you saw my storage solutions for the CraftyStudy, now today it's other storage solutions both inside and outside! Well, Emma of docrafts, if some Creativity Club folk didn't want to show their messy craft, think how we'll feel about our cupboards and sheds! LOL I don't have any particularly nifty storage, I would just love to have some solutions such as Ikea offers for hiding everything neatly away in the house. As for the garden, well, I just leave the shed to be messed-up by my hubby as he does the gardening! So with these cop-outs, I leave you with a decoupaged CraftsUprint garden card and a decoupaged New Home Garden Shed card.

Since CC Emma was talking about sunny weather in the Forum, here's a rainbow that appeared yesterday evening.

Photographs of your craft room

Blog Prompt #11

Write about and show off photographs of your craft room! How do you store everything? Any nifty and thrifty ideas to share? I also want you to name your favourite episode of Creativity TV to date...

Today's post is to show off photos of my craft room AKA The Crafty Study. Now do I tidy it first? No, show it as is.
First up the Ikea wooden self-assemble storage drawers for A4 card, similar wooden storage rack for magazines which I've used for the embossing boards.  Jewellery bead stacks, Cuttlebug, Kindle, acoustic guitar (teacher Mark Cameron of Awaken/ Glasgow Guitar School).
I use a large Really Useful Box to store my rubber stamps (Christmas ones in another box) after I had a really good clear out of them! Tuff clip boxes and folders store decoupage and various bits. More drawers for assorted card, labels etc - plastic this time, wish I'd bought the metal mesh ones.

This is the workspace looking out on my view.
Crafty computer with new storage shelves bought at the Craft Fair.
Have Ink Dusting equipment-->will travel.
I also have to name your favourite episode of Creativity TV to date...

Creativity TV Episode 117: Watercolouring Techniques with Michael Powell

I like this one because I love using Twinkling H2Os/ Cosmic Shimmer watercolours or Copic alcohol pens to colour in digistamps/ rubber stamped images.  I also like the look of the new docrafts Michael Powell rubber stamps - I particularly like beach huts and plan on buying these two.

Caravan decoupage

CraftyWhippet and CraftyAlice spent a whole week revamping Alice's CraftyStudy with the aid of the Great Normano and Ruth's son Alan doing the 'man stuff'. Homes have been found in two new chests of drawers and peel-offs have been tidied to within an inch of their lives...just in time to actually make some cards for Christmas!

Ruth was kindly given craft materials by a lady she knows and it was put to good use as she generously distributed it among other crafters.

We did some simple decoupage with friend Fiona and then Ruth taught her to heat-emboss. Little mistakes are easily made and we were saved in the nick of time from blowing the open pot powder everywhere! Not a word about the failed embossing sticking to the trimmer - as she made much of cleaning my 'dusty' surface with baby wipes... honest Ruth always owns up.

Crafting Tidy-Up

Posted by Unknown 0 comments
Hi folks,

I just thought I would share with you that have been reorganising my craft supplies with nice new storage boxes.

Well that was the plan. I went to Ikea and bought the triple set of A4 drawers, well three sets to be exact and thought that would be a good start in making my craft area, which happens to be in my hall, much tidier looking.

That was the plan. I had two plastic storage units with three deep drawers that I wanted to empty, but for some strange reason I started looking at rearranging from another storage area in the hall. Yes, I have a big hall...A big mistake. After my son had made up my three boxes I decided that the printer would look better on the other side of the computer table. With me so far?

I happily started transferring A4 card into my new boxes, getting in a mess but still on track - as I thought - until I realised I had three box drawers left and my two triple drawer storage units hadn’t even been opened. Now...what do I have in these drawers that I could transfer? - ah, embossing powders and heat gun. They could go in an empty box I had created earlier and also perhaps the glitter phials. Mmmmm...Can’t do all that so removed the heat gun. My husband appeared in the hall as I was sitting surrounded by craft items everywhere, while stacking glitter phials into a little square box.

By this time my hall looked as though a bomb had hit it and it was also after eleven pm. There I was with no floor space left when my husband said “leave it for tonight“. I don’t think so.

However, as bed was calling me what did I do? I put all my things back in the triple drawers and returned the A4 card to where I had started put the other things that had accumulated during the evening into a carrier bag so that it at least looked reasonably tidy and then I went to bed. But....you and I know that this all has to be sorted eventually or one does not have a clue where one's things are.

I am sure all of you crafters have done exactly the same thing. It even got to the stage when I began to actually want to throw things out rather than find somewhere to put it. You know what it’s like when you walk around with something in your hand in the vague hope that a space will appear from the middle of all your mess.

When I have recovered my sanity and returned to some semblance of order I will let you know. In the meantime, all you who have tidy storage, be thankful.

Crafty Whippet - Not!

PS I also intended to look at all my old cards and revamp them. Perhaps a few months from now might be okay either that or they can stay exactly where they are. I do not intend to have my bedroom like my hall.
